BVSc, Veterinary Science

Dip, Homeopathy Animal Health

Director and Veterinarian

There was never an option B for me, for a veterinarian I was certainly going to be! I loved animals growing up, having a good mix of cats and dogs over the years. Seeking a natural approach to animal health care, I completed a 4 year homeopathy diploma in animal health. It was a fantastic start, however I was limited with treatment, particularly surgery options. I then spent another 5 years at Massey University and graduating in 2014, I moved to Papamoa East where I still reside today. Together with my wife, daughter and son, we enjoy everything that Tauranga has to offer. Particularly, the beauty and novelty of this immediate growing area of ours in Palm Springs and Golden Sands.

Having worked locally for the past 5 years after graduation, I met a great deal of fantastic people. For me, the career of being a vet is far more than just offering health care services to pets. I really enjoy getting to know my clients, having laughs, helping them out in good times of life as well as aiding in transitioning more troublesome ones. The desire to offer this kind of service to my local community brought about the creation of Coastal Pet Vet.

I am zealous about health and fitness. I have always had the desire to live a full active lifestyle, supported by great nutrition. Fitness and nutrition I believe makes a huge difference to our family pets, no matter their age.

When I’m not at the clinic, you can usually find me at the beaches and parks with my family in tow.

Sarah

Practice Manager

My name is Sarah and I’m so excited to be working at Coastal Pet Vet. I graduated from Toi Ohomai in 2017 with a certificate in Vet nursing and the Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Meritorious Award. Before becoming a Vet Nurse, I lived in Australia managing bars, other businesses and worked in business development. I’d always dreamed of working with animals so I decided to move back to New Zealand, study Vet Nursing and spend more time with my family.

I was born and raised in Tauranga and love living back here. I have a passion for animals and an even bigger passion for animal education. I love learning and passing on what I learn to our customers. As Benjamin Franklin once said “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”

My hoard of animals keeps me busy and quite often I’m on the other side of the desk with my own fur babies. I’ve got a chocolate Labrador/Staffy Cola, a brindle Boxer cross – Maddy and a Corgi/Jack Russell – Roxy. My Ragdoll cross siblings Basil and Tilly don’t give me too much trouble but my youngest cat Thistle can be quite the handful. I’ve also got a huge interest in fish and have a few tropical freshwater tanks. When I’m not spending time with my pets, you’ll find me creating art or growing vegetables in my garden.

Gaby

Vet Nurse

Hello everyone, I’m Gaby, and I’m passionate about making a difference in the lives of animals through veterinary care. Originally from Ecuador, my journey into the field began with a strong commitment to protecting and serving animals.

I initially pursued veterinary studies in Argentina but eventually found my way to New Zealand, where I completed my diploma in vet nursing. This transition allowed me to focus on practical, hands-on care, honing my skills to provide the best possible treatment for animals in need.

I have a strong affinity for surgical procedures and aspire to contribute positively to the veterinary industry. My goal is to enhance standards of care and advocate for improved practices that benefit both animals and their human companions.

Outside of work, I cherish time spent outdoors and enjoy connecting with nature and animals. I’m dedicated to promoting animal welfare in all aspects of my life, whether through professional endeavors or personal pursuits.

I’m excited to be part of this team and look forward to continuing my journey of caring for animals and making a meaningful impact in their lives.

Teressa

Vet Nurse

Hey there, I’m Teressa, and I joined the Coastal Pet Vet crew back in 2021 right after finishing my studies. Working alongside our amazing team of nurses and vets has been an absolute blast!
When I’m not at the clinic, you’ll find me trying to keep up with my two kids —they keep me on my toes! One of the best parts of my job is meeting new clients and watching their furry friends grow up right before my eyes. It’s like being a part of their extended family!
Outside of work and mum duties, I love exploring new hobbies with my family. Whether we’re trying out adventurous hikes, whipping up tasty new recipes together, or simply kicking back with a good book, we’re always up for a good time.
I’m so grateful to be a part of the Coastal Pet Vet team where every day brings new adventures and opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of our clients and their beloved pets.

Sarah

Veterinary Receptionist

Hi! I’m Sarah, a local from beautiful Mt Maunganui/Papamoa. I grew up in this area and have a deep connection to it.

I’m not only a wife and mom of two teenage girls, a Border Collie, and a Toyger cat, but I also have a diverse work background. From local government work in ecology and mapping to being a clothing designer and retail store owner, I’ve had a range of experiences.

Animals and their well-being have always been a passion of mine, which led me to the veterinary industry. With 25 years of customer service experience, I take pride in providing a positive experience for each individual. I genuinely enjoy connecting with people and their furry companions, and I’m grateful to be in a role that allows me to do this every day. When I’m not at the clinic, you’ll find me at the beach or a local cafe with my Collie Marni. I also enjoy jogging, listening to music, and sewing. My family and I love spending weekends at Ruapehu, enjoying the snow, and camping on the coast with friends during the summers. I can’t wait to meet you and your fur baby at our warm and friendly clinic in the future.

Nicole

Vet Nurse

Hi everyone, I’m Nicole, one of the Vet Nurses here at Coastal Pet Vet, dedicated to caring for your beloved furry friends.
My passion for animals has been lifelong, leading me to pursue a career in vet nursing. During my final year of high school, I decided that this path was perfect for me. I completed my certificate at Toi Ohomai in 2021 and followed up with an online diploma through Otago in 2022. Joining Coastal Pet Vet at the start of 2024 has been incredibly fulfilling.
While I enjoy all aspects of my job, nothing beats the joy of cuddling with our adorable little patients. Outside of work, I indulge in reading, baking delicious treats, and expressing my creativity through crocheting and sewing.
