Dip, Homeopathy Animal Health

Director and Veterinarian

There was never an option B for me, for a veterinarian I was certainly going to be! I loved animals growing up, having a good mix of cats and dogs over the years. Seeking a natural approach to animal health care, I completed a 4 year homeopathy diploma in animal health. It was a fantastic start, however I was limited with treatment, particularly surgery options. I then spent another 5 years at Massey University and graduating in 2014, I moved to Papamoa East where I still reside today. Together with my wife, daughter and son, we enjoy everything that Tauranga has to offer. Particularly, the beauty and novelty of this immediate growing area of ours in Palm Springs and Golden Sands.

Having worked locally for the past 5 years after graduation, I met a great deal of fantastic people. For me, the career of being a vet is far more than just offering health care services to pets. I really enjoy getting to know my clients, having laughs, helping them out in good times of life as well as aiding in transitioning more troublesome ones. The desire to offer this kind of service to my local community brought about the creation of Coastal Pet Vet.

I am zealous about health and fitness. I have always had the desire to live a full active lifestyle, supported by great nutrition. Fitness and nutrition I believe makes a huge difference to our family pets, no matter their age.

When I’m not at the clinic, you can usually find me at the beaches and parks with my family in tow.

Sarah

Practice Manager

My name is Sarah and I’m so excited to be working at Coastal Pet Vet. I graduated from Toi Ohomai in 2017 with a certificate in Vet nursing and the Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Meritorious Award. Before becoming a Vet Nurse, I lived in Australia managing bars, other businesses and worked in business development. I’d always dreamed of working with animals so I decided to move back to New Zealand, study Vet Nursing and spend more time with my family.

I was born and raised in Tauranga and love living back here. I have a passion for animals and an even bigger passion for animal education. I love learning and passing on what I learn to our customers. As Benjamin Franklin once said “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”

My hoard of animals keeps me busy and quite often I’m on the other side of the desk with my own fur babies. I’ve got a chocolate Labrador/Staffy Cola, a brindle Boxer cross – Maddy and a Corgi/Jack Russell – Roxy. My Ragdoll cross siblings Basil and Tilly don’t give me too much trouble but my youngest cat Thistle can be quite the handful. I’ve also got a huge interest in fish and have a few tropical freshwater tanks. When I’m not spending time with my pets, you’ll find me creating art or growing vegetables in my garden.

Marian

Veterinary Nurse

Hi, Marian here. I originally come from England. I’ve been in New Zealand for 20 years. I live in Tauranga with my partner & teenage daughter. My background is in human nursing & I was a Registered Nurse in intensive care for 20+ years. Prior to retraining as a Vet Nurse 4years ago, I spent 9 years working as a Teacher Aide & School Nurse at a local primary school. I have always had a love for animals & always had pets around the house growing up; as well as fostering numerous cats, kittens & birds over the years. Not much has changed & I still have quite the menagerie. Between us, we have 2 dogs, 5 cats, a love bird and 2 rats. I’m excited to be working at Coastal Pet Vets & getting to know you all with your gorgeous fur babies!
